The need for constancy must require that petitions made to Parliament, recognized and approved, be followed up with effect. The Ardocc (Association for the restoration of the keep of Coucy-le-château) obtained the approval of petitions requesting the obsolescence of texts imposing "a maintenance in ruins to show future generations the barbarity of the German people". Petition 1267/2025; This approval from Parliament is accompanied by a statement that Parliament and Europe do not have the possibility of intervening with the Aisne Departmental Council which issued this edict. What use can these rights to petition have if they are not accompanied by any political act? La paix en Europe et la défense de sa civilisation imposent que ce texte de haine soit formellement et publiquement caduc et obsolète . European Heritage Label scheme restructuring It is gratifying that the European Commission is considering becoming more deeply involved not only in the preservation of our shared heritage but also in its significance and importance in relation to the Parliament's resolution on European historical awareness. The Association for the Restoration of the Keep of Coucy-le-Château (ARDOCC) has been working for several decades, consistently communicating its motivations, historical research, and findings to the European institutions. Despite the Parliament's resolution on European historical awareness, the association has not yet been able to obtain from the French State a resolution declaring the texts defunct, which proclaim "the preservation in ruin to show future generations the barbarity of the German people." The lack of consideration from the State at its many levels:municipality, department, region, Presidency of the Republic, and the National Monuments Center is all the more peculiar given that the Ministry of Culture acknowledges that "the reconstruction of the keep would be, from an architectural, heritage, and even diplomatic standpoint, a project of undeniable interest and scope.". ARDOCC, a member of Europa Nostra and the World Monuments Fund, regrets the position of the French State, which has primarily resulted in preventing any initiative from civil society. Furthermore, it strongly suspects the State's intention to conceal a purely military issue and another of high-level hostility not democratically approved by the people. ARDOCC is for Peace and reconciliation between the German and French people are paramount, and the continued state of ruin is considered a considerable spoliation of the inhabitants of the neighboring country. The estimated economic loss certainly reaches billions of euros. Petitions to Parliament since 2004 have had no effect on the French State. HOW CAN WE BELIEVE IN EUROPE AND PEACE? For Ardocc, it is not a matter of rebuilding for the sake of rebuilding, but rather of symbolism. True peace must be visible and inscribed in the landscape.
